[glow=red,2,300]Forest Knight 25[/glow] is my name, and I like s-CRY-ed. My favorite characters are Scheris, Cougar and Ryuho. I'm probably the only guy who hates Kazuma, though I love his alter. I'm also a computer programmer, student of jujitsu, artist, sociologist, scientist, and wannabe novelist. I guess I'll soon put my writing skills to the test when I make Future s-CRY-ed, me and AsukaWasHere's story we have planned. My favorite food is pizza, sushi, BBQ, hamburgers, cake, donuts, and anything unhealthy. My website can be found here.

Welcome and all ^^ And thanks for signing up. Remind me to reply to that note you sent me on deviantART later (I have a class soon; don't think I'll have time to answer everything here and on dA as well...), but to be entirely honest, I think I liked your original ideas better. I'll elaborate more when I get the chance. But, it is really your story, and you're of course free to do what you like. I'll be happy beta as much as you like though.

Yes, my original ideas were more anime and more "fangirl" ish. But applying myself and my friends to a story I only have half a schedule to write makes it all the more interesting and gives me an incentive. We don't have to have our real names either. I'll use a pseudonym myself. I will find a way to include elements from both versions. Also note that there's going to be very few romance, bishiness or anything else for rabid fangirls to go "eee kawaii desu!" over. I'm a wannabe fantasy novelist so I think you'll understand. While nice, anime (at least the current otaku scene) isn't really my thing. I'm generally more into western fantasy and sci-fi (western referring to countries in the west, NOT cowboys and stuff.) Star Wars, LoTR, Aliens, and the writing of Robert Heinlein and H.P. Lovecraft are cool to me. That said, I do have a very strong anime tradition where I draw especially attractive young characters anime-style, whereas others are normally more realistically styled. More later ^_^

Oh, I agree it'd be silly to write a rabid-fangirl-type fic, but at teh same time, I've seen a lot of self-insert stories go under really fast. Call it a sort of fanfiction hierarchy - canon characters are best, followed by non-Sue OC's, and canon charries in an OOC/AU setting (which can be done well, but only very rarely), and then Sues are just the scum of the earth - but self-inserts are almost always either a) Sues or b) end up being more about the self-insertion(s) than the story or the fandom. And, at least in my reasoning, it always seems like a person should write fanfiction because they have a story to tell about the fandom, not because they think it's so cool they want to plug themselves and/or their friends in it. You had a story to tell about some characters you tried to think about and plan out and develop, and it should really be about them, in my mind. Does that make any sense?
As a side note, the only thing you mentioned above that I am also a crazy fan of is Star Wars... there are always such great SW cosplayers at the CTCon, too; I should send you my photos. You'd probably enjoy them. I do, however, also have a fondness for the writings of CJ Henderson, and he sometimes works in the whole Lovecraft mythos and, more broadly, occult stories. Ever read any of his works?

No, I haven't. I'm really not much of a reader...I wish I could read more but I have a notoriously short attention span I am re-reading The Hobbit just for the heck of it. Then I'll probably reread the Fellowship of the Ring. Just curious, but do you ever write fanfiction? I might have you write at least part of Future s-CRY-ed becuase 1: school's taking over my life and 2: I'm working on a big project: a computer game, so I often don't have time for in-depth fiction writing. I could, however, write a little bit and you could add stuff to it. Whaddya say?

I'm... not really much of a fanfiction writer, so much as I am a fanfiction reader. I can give advice and beta and all, but I'd likely do a pretty crummy job of writing the actual bulk of a story myself. I also have plenty of essays to write on my own already... the problem with having double English courses is that the essays basically line up one after another and all take plenty of work. ^^' Same reason why it sometimes takes me a few days to reply to things here.
Isn't LotR a bit of a challenge to get through if you have a short attention span? I could never get through any of the trilogy... think I read The Hobbit all the way through, though.
